This is my end of the year theme project. I created three lidded projects with flowers. Each is about 5 inches tall and 2 inches wide. They all have a smooth surface. My intention of creating this project was to make all of them the same height and width but have a different flower on top. They all turned out pretty different though. I glazed them all clear with dark lavender on the flower. A skill I learned was how to measure them all so that they can all be close to the same size. This project is important to me because I was able to demonstrate my skills that I have learned throughout this year and create a project that reflects that.

This is my second extra credit plate project. It is about 5 inches wide with a smooth surface. I glazed it using black, cobalt blue and clear. One skill I learned was how to pull a plate and create the lip. This is not one of my favorite plates because of short time I was not able to foot the bottom properly and it turned out very rough. I used values and lines to demonstrate contrast. This project is significant to me because I was able to pull the plate wide and add a lip to it.
This is my tall vase project. I used the frankenpot technique to create two tall cylinders together and then connected them which created an even taller project. It is about 3 inches wide and 7 inches tall. It has a smooth surface. It has a aqua colored glaze. I layered matte turquoise and dark cobalt on top of each other to create an ocean-like color. The art and design elements I used were texture and movement. A skill that I learned was how to attach two separate pieces together to create a project that looks uniform. This is important to me because it shows what I have learned and I love how it turned out.
This is my second big bowl project. It has a very smooth surface. It is about 6 inches wide and 4 inches tall. It is glazed with white and dark lavender. I did a base layer in glaze and then I painted dark lavender on top of that and on the edges so that it would drip down the sides. The value and the drip technique of the light glaze created movement and emphasis with the colors. This is by far one of my favorite projects that I have made. It is very symmetrical and circular. I also love how this glaze turned out and it is definitely something that I will try to incorporate into my projects more often.
This is an extra credit plate project that I made. It is relatively small. It is about 6 inches wide and about .5 inches tall. It had a smooth surface. I used the glazing technique of dipping to create an overlap of fun colors. The glazes I used were black, sydney blue and clear. My plate uses different values to create contrast. I'm very happy with how this plate turned out, keeping in mind that it was my very first. I enjoyed creating it because I was able to try something completely new with the form.
This is my frankenpot that I made with Lewis and Aiyanna. I threw the middle section of this pot. It is about 9 inches tall and 3 inches wide. It has a very rustic looking glaze. We used shadow green on the outside and glazed the inside white. I had a lot of fun throwing this and connecting all of the pieces together. This project uses contrast to show movement in the glaze. I like this project because even though my partners and I all have unique styles and are all at different skill levels in ceramics, we were still able to make something that blends well together and is uniform.
This project is my hand and wheel teapot that I made. It has a very smooth, dark surface. The only glaze I used was forest green because I wanted it to have a simple feel to it. It is 4 by 6 inches. I used form to create unity and harmony. This project is important to me because I was really able to have a lot of fun with it. I was able to create an inset lid which was completely new to me and a learned how to create a hand made spout along with a wheel thrown spout which I did not end up using.
This is my set of three project. They are all shallow jewelry dishes. I used sea mix for the clay so that the white could show up vividly. They all have a very smooth surface. They all range in sizes from 2 inches wide to 5 inches wide. I purposefully made them all three different sizes so that they could stack and be a matching set with some difference. The glazes I used were white as the first layer and then I dipped half of the project into matte turquoise. These project use color to emphasize movement. This project is important to me because I feel like this project shows how I have improved in ceramics and now I experiment and have the ability to try new techniques.
This is one of my favorite projects that I have made so far. I used paper clay to make it. I made this by attaching 5 squares together and then adding in barriers to the 6th square so that the lid could rest on the top of the box without sliding off. I attached all of the squares together and added the details by slipping and scoring. It has a smooth surface with small vines with thorns and roses attached to the sides and the top of the box. I glazed the base white and then used Pink-a-licious and dark green to glaze the details. It is about 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall. I used various shapes to give my little box emphasis on the roses and vines. A new skill that I learned and utilized in this project is creating roses and flowers. I really loved how they turned out and I will be creating more in the future. This project is meaningful to me because I was able to create something that is completely different than what I normally do and I was able to be creative.
This is my first big bowl of my second quarter in intermediate ceramics. It is about 6 inches wide and 5 inches tall. It mostly has a smooth texture but near the base of the bowl I carved in lines. I glazed it with white and pink but both vaguely showed up, and they both ran. This bowl shows how texture gives the bowl rhythm. One new skilled that I learned/used was adding texture and exploring new types of glazes. This bowl is meaningful to me because I used new techniques that I have never done before.
